US to look at medical countermeasure production and development incentives

US health and human services (HHS) secretary Kathleen Sebelius has ordered a full review of the government's approach to developing and producing medical countermeasures in the wake of the H1N1 influenza outbreak. The evaluation could lead to new incentives for manufacturers to develop drugs and biologicals that counter public health threats.
